Sakurajima is Japan´s most active volcano with eruptions nearly every day. The average for major eruptions is one per month.

Around the volcano island you have several beautiful views in a save far distance to the volcano.

Photography Tips

On the picture you can see a smaller eruption and the smoke that is coming out of the crater. Even if there is just a chance for a major eruptions ones per month I would try it. Probably you are the "lucky" one to get this on a picture.

Travel Information

Parking is possible right next to the harbor. Just walk by ourself to the coastline, enjoy a small picnic with the view of the volcano.
