Next to the over-crowded Yasaka Pagoda or Ninenzaka for sunset this is a real alternative just close by. From here you have a nice overview to the pagoda and the city without any other people.

Photography Tips

Wait until the sun sets close to the mountain range. Often you will have this hazy weather and the sun turns into a fireball.

Travel Information

The easiest way to move around in Kyoto is to rent a bicycle here. For around 20 Euro per day you are so flexible and can be spontaneous everywhere. For us it was the perfect match and is the most common thing for locals.

Just next to Ninenzaka are parking lots for bicycles.
