Kenya Vachellia tortilis tree, Kimana Gate, Amboseli National Park

Close to the Kimana Gate you will find most of the Vachellia tortilis tree. The rest of the park is characterized more by open grassland and marshland. With a little luck, you'll have a great opportunity to capture wildlife in the foreground or spectacular sunsets.

Amboseli National Park, located in southern Kenya, is well known for its large herds of elephants and breathtaking views of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest mountain; the park’s open plains, swamps, and seasonal lakes support a wide variety of wildlife such as lions, giraffes, zebras, and many bird species.

Always have your tele-zoom lens ready with a higher shutter for moving animals. With long focal lengths, the aperture may also increase at the maximum focal length, depending on the lens. Therefore, I would check the native ISO for the camera beforehand. Often there are two. Use the higher ISO for more artificial brightness so that you can set the shutter faster. The loss of quality should be minimal.

IMPORTANT for this spot:
These pictures can only be taken at sunset. The advantage is that the photo opportunities are available shortly before leaving the park, near the gate. So tell your driver to leave the park just before closing time so that you can photograph exactly these kinds of scenes. Sometimes the drivers want to leave the park earlier. Therefore, talk to them in advance about spots like this one.
