Luxembourg Castle Bourscheid

Bourscheid Castle in Luxembourg is not only the largest building of its kind in the country, but also one of the most important castles between the Rhine and Meuse. It was extended in four stages and completed in 1430 with the construction of the large complex with its numerous turrets.

Bourscheid Castle (Château de Bourscheid) in northern Luxembourg, perched dramatically above the Sûre River valley. The medieval fortress, dating back to the 10th century, dominates the surrounding landscape with its towers and walls rising from the forested hills. Bourscheid Castle is located between Ettelbruck and Esch-sur-Sûre in northern Luxembourg. The site is open to visitors year-round, with parking available near the entrance and a short uphill walk to reach the castle. From ground level, the views are already impressive, but nearby roads and hiking paths offer several elevated vantage points perfect for photography.
