Mauritius Black River Gorges Viewpoint

This location offers sweeping views north into the Black River Gorges area. It's a popular tourist area just east of Chamarel with several other excellent waterfall and viewpoint photo locations nearby but this is the best for a panoramic view.

Photography Tips

It's a steep gorge facing north so impossible for light to fall into the interior early/late in the day, always sidelit. The interior of Mauritius gets a lot of rainfall while the coastal areas are much drier so there are often interesting cloud formations overhead.

It's a popular tourist area with plenty of parking and easy to get to.
