Calakmul is a Maya archaeological site in the Mexican state of Campeche, deep in the jungles of the greater Petén Basin region. It is 35 kilometres from the Guatemalan border. Calakmul was one of the largest and most powerful ancient cities ever uncovered in the Maya lowlands

Photography Tips

Fortunately for the photographer or the tourist, avid for tranquility, Calakmul is a little visited site. That creates an atmosphere of mysterious tranquility. We feel privileged to be there admiring almost so many beautiful vestiges of humanity.

Travel Information

The optimal way to get to the site is to make an intermediate stop from Chiapas traveling to Cancun. The site deserves since there is no city or center of interest nearby. You arrive only with your own vehicle
