Montenegro Church of Our Lady of Skrpjela, Bay of Kotor
Our Lady of the Rocks (Gospa od Skrpjela) is a small Catholic church located on a small island formed by local seamen dumping rocks and sinking boats filled with rocks on a spot near another small island, Saint George’s Catholic Monastery. Formation of the island started in the mid-1400s and the church, in its current form, including an annex which is now a museum, was created in the 1700s.
Photography Tips
If there is wind, at least one direction is protected by the church. Try to find this angle so you have wonderful reflections of the sky in the water. Classic composition is handy here.
Views of both islands can be had from the main road, above Perast but roadside parking can be a challenge at the better spots. There are also view of both islands from the main road heading towards Herceg Novi.
