Montenegro Trnovačko-Lake
Sutjeska-Nationalpark is the oldest and one of the most spectacular national parks in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is home to dramatic mountain landscapes, deep valleys, glacial lakes, and the famous Perućica primeval forest, one of the last remaining virgin forests in Europe. The park offers untouched wilderness and remote scenery, making it a dream location for nature and adventure photography. From here, hikers can reach Trnovačko-See, a stunning alpine lake located just across the border in Montenegro.
Photography Tips
This area is perfect for wide-angle landscape photography, showcasing vast mountain ranges, rugged peaks, and pristine nature. In calm weather conditions, beautiful reflections of the surrounding mountains can be photographed here.
Travel Information
The park is located in southeastern Bosnia and Herzegovina and is most commonly accessed from Foča. Hiking routes lead from the park toward Trnovačko Lake, which lies in Montenegro but is easiest to reach from the Bosnian side. Proper hiking equipment, sufficient water, and navigation tools are essential, as the area is remote and facilities are limited. Some areas may require permits or guides, depending on the route and season.
