Amarapura is located south of Mandalay in Myanmar, between the Irrawaddy River and Lake Taungthaman.
There, not far from a large Buddhist monastery, which sometimes accommodates up to 1000 monks, stands the U-leg bridge. It is the longest teak bridge in the world, 1200m long and stands on huge stilts.
In the rainy season the water level is just below the bridge's footbridges.
