Der Hoarusib gehört zu einem der großen Trockenflüsse in Namibia. der Fluß hat im Laufe der Jahrtausende sein Bett in die Felsen geschliffen - und das Flußbett wird nun von steilen Felsformationen eingerahmt. Die Pforte ist die engste Stelle im westlichen Verlauf des Flusses.

Travel Information

Der Hoarusib kann nur mit 4x4 befahren werden. Sie sollten über Offroad-Eerfahrung verfügen und immer mit einem Begleitfahrzeug unterwegs sein. Im Kaokoveld gilt: Kein Stress, kein Lärm - kein Notarzt.
Da es in der Regenezit zu Springfluten kommen kann, denen Sie in dem engen Flußbett nicht ausweichen können, ist ein Besuch dieses Spots nur im afrikansichen Winter - also in der Trockenzeit - ratsam
