The Spitzkoppe is an inselberg with a height of 1728 m, 120 km east of Swakopmund in Namibia, which towers 700 meters above its surroundings. Due to its distinctive shape, it is also known as the "Matterhorn of Namibia" and is one of the most photographed mountains in the country.

Photography Tips

The car adds a great subject to the frame, bringing dynamics into the scene. You could wait for another vehicle to come by or, if traveling in a group, ask some group members to drive by to get the shot. Don't park your car on the road since there are no other ways to drive around.

Travel Information

The park's gate is open one hour before sunrise, and you must pay an entrance fee. Alternatively, you can camp in the park if you want to photograph at night. It is very dark, and there is no water or electricity. This can be found at the front of the main gate!
