Netherlands Groningen Railway Station
The central hall of Groningen CS breathes an atmosphere of more than a century ago: the masonry in braids of red, yellow and black stones, a high wrought iron lantern and the texts above the passageways. The colourful floral motifs and architectural elements on the ceiling are made of paper-mâché, all in perfect symmetry. This technique was not unusual in the past due to low costs and lightweight. However, the application is special on such a large scale.
