Netherlands Lighthouse at Marken in the Netherlands
The lighthouse ‘Paard van Marken’ (Horse of Marken, somehow resembling a horse in its current shape) was built in 1839 by J. Valk. A primitive tower had been on the location since the early 18th century; the current lighthouse is declared a national monument in 1970. The tower is 16 meters tall and has a light range of 16,7 Km. Every night its light shines over the IJsselmeer. Nowadays it functions for the inland shipping and for personal boats.

Photography Tips
You can photograph this ligthouse at sunrise or sunset, but also with dark and unpredictable clouds this is a beautiful spot. Pay attention when you want to fly a drone around the lighthouse – the owner claims he will be shooting drones from the sky.

Travel Information
There's a 25-30 minute walk to the far end of the Peninsula. No cars are allowed on Marken except for the locals.
