I consider this one of the most impressive spots of our six weeks' trip throuhgout New Zealand. The Clay Cliffs are located on private grounds, that is probably the reason the dirt road is not maintained and the location is hardly to be found in travel guides. There is an reasonable entrance fee to be paid in an honesty box. At our visit there it was dry and warm. If it is wet it will be difficult to get there on that bad road (path) and it will be very dangerous going inside the formations because they are very slippery and crumbling.
