New Zealand Te Hoho Rock at Cathedral Cove Colomandel
This was taken at the famous Cathedral Cove Colomandel at sunrise. There is a beautiful cave which was reopened in 2024. Furthermore, its surrounding with a beautiful cliffs, some interesting rock formations and smaller beaches.
Photography Tips
Morning hours are the best since thats when it's the calmest. Try to get in a position at the stacks so get some beautiful flares edging the rock surface. You will have a very high dynamic range here. Either stack 2 photos with 2 exposures together or exposure for the highlights and recover the darks later.
Travel Information
The best way to get there if the top carpark is full or closed [during summer till the end of April] is to park at the beach and walk along the beach till you see these wooden steps and follow them for 40 minutes to the spot. The first section is a track, but thenit turns into a bitumen path for the rest.
