If you don’t want to freeze the waterfall, you will need a very steady hand plus a good stabilizer; alternatively bring a tripod or something to rest your camera on, like a bean bag.

Travel Information

Mackay Falls can only be visited when walking the complete Milford Track which takes 3 1/2 days. The start of Milford track is basically only accessible by boat from Te Anau Downs which can be reached either by car or by bus from Te Anau. Booking the trip and track is essential.
