Turton Saddle (1100m) offers great views over Raikaia River and surrounding hills. The hills will be snow covered in winter which will make it more attractive.

Travel Information

Highway 77 to Raikai Gorge, turn right to Glenrock Station, follow road for 34km, it becomes unsealed. Just after Glenrock Station is a sign for Te Araroa Trail. Park there and walk 1.5h on farmtrack to Turton Saddle (5.5km) . If you carry on for another hour there is an A-frame hut (9km)where you could stay over night.
