Be there an hour before sunrise, to find your perfect position before other photographers will arrive. Sunrise is the most enjoyable time there. Leave your shoes in the car, it's going to be wet ;-)
Check the tides, composition possibilities change according to incoming or outgoing tides.
During the day you have a lot of non photographers around be prepared for that, and when the tide is going out, wet foot steps can be a problem for the picture you want
