New Zealand Nine pin rock, Whatipu, North Island
Te Toka-Tapu-a-Kupe / Ninepin Rock is an island at the mouth of the Manukau Harbour, at Whatipu in the Waitākere Ranges area.
Photography Tips
Getting both nine-pin rock and the island in the same photo with the Lighthouse included. Check the times of the tides - in dependency on the water levels, you can create amazingly different frames.
Travel Information
Whatipu is located about an hour west of Auckland, with some dirt roads as you get closer to the spot. Parking is okay, with about a 10 to 15 minute walk to the beach. There is also a super pretty campground close to the beach, which is to be paid with around 10 NZD at the place itself.
