New Zealand Kea at McKinnon Pass

Up on McKinnon Pass there can be Kea. These super intelligent alpine parrots are very cheeky and playful and deliver beautiful photo opportunities, especially when they are flying.

High shutter speeds and heaps of patience are key here!

n order to reach this spot, you would need to book yourself one of the rare spots on the Milford Track. Bookings for the season opening super early and you better keep track of that. Sometimes it's possible with heaps of luck to grab hands on a last minute cancelation.

Reaching the McKinnon Pass marks the highest point of the track. If the weather is good up here (which is rarely is), def. use any chance you can get hands on.
