New Zealand Dead trees, The Pinnacles

Next to my existing spot "The Pinnacles" you can use the platform at the top to climb a little around. It is crazy how many new perspectives you will find that you can't see before. Therefore it's important to take your time and find new angles.

Coromandel by itself is known for its dense vegetation and high humidity, which makes many tropical plants bloom and turns the paths along the walk into a dense crisp green.

Photography Tips

Use the dark shadows in the deep green during the blue hour to get those contrasts like here with these huge dead trees. It is necessary to bring your tele zoom lens with you.

Travel Information

This 13,8 km out-and-back trail with 771 meter of elevation is a moderate hike and requires a medium level of fitness. Well maintained sections can sometimes be slippery, if there was rain the previous day or during the day.

The last 200 meters is a bit more difficult, cause you have some ladders for steeper sections.

You also can stay in the Pinnacle Hut, wich is the biggest in New Zealand with 80 bunk. You need to reserve the hut before you go. The department of conversation as a professional homepage with all important informations: https://www.doc.govt.nz/
