New Zealand Skyline Track near Roy´s Peak Summit
The area around Wanaka and Treble Cone is a hiking paradise. Once you reach a certain height the landscape offers a lot of beautiful views on Lake Wanaka, the surrounding mountains and on clear days on Mt. Aspiring.
Photography Tips
Use a wide angle lens for more landscape in your picture. This makes you more aware of the vastness of the place.
Travel Information
This 15,4 km out-and-back trail with around 1264 meter of elevation is a moderate hike and requires a normal level of fitness. The way up is a gravel road for farmers and easy for hikers. Take care if you plan your hike during the day. There are no places for shadow and it can be super hot.
The spot is crowded at sunrise. So I would prefer to go at sunset. There are just a few persons up on the summit.
