New Zealand Mount Aspiring from near Skyline Track

The area around Wanaka and Treble Cone is a hiking paradise. Once you reach a certain height the landscape offers a lot of beautiful views on Lake Wanaka, the surrounding mountains and on clear days on Mt. Aspiring.

These two photos should show you the dynamic between the range 200-500mm. The first one is taken with 200mm while the second one is with 500mm. From my perspective on it is just an idea why it is worth it to bring a heavy lens all the way up to the peaks. It changes the perspectives and creates something new.

This 15,4 km out-and-back trail with around 1264 meter of elevation is a moderate hike and requires a normal level of fitness. The way up is a gravel road for farmers and easy for hikers. Take care if you plan your hike during the day. There are no places for shadow and it can be super hot.

The spot is crowded at sunrise. So I would prefer to go at sunset. There are just a few persons up on the summit.
