New Zealand Views from Skyline Track, Roys Peak
Roys Peak is probably the most famous mountains near Wanaka. It offers you stunning views to Lake Wanaka, the surrounding mountains. On good days, you even can see Mount Aspiring.

Tip: How to avoid the crowd?
Right after the crowded Roys Peak Lookout you have the opportunity to hike further up the Skyline Track to Roys Peak. If you orientate yourself a bit offsite the track you will get amazing new perspectives.

Travel Information
This 15,4 km out-and-back trail with around 1264 meter of elevation is a moderate hike and requires a normal level of fitness. The way up is a gravel road for farmers and easy for hikers. Take care if you plan your hike during the day. There are no places for shadow and it can be super hot.
The spot is crowded at sunrise. So I would prefer to go at sunset. There are just a few persons up on the summit.
