New Zealand Muriwai Gannet Colony, last viewing platform
Why I used a new spot for this Gannet Colony is simple: In my eyes this new spot is the best. For sunset the light is coming from the oceanside and at this last lookout point you can avoid other platforms, tourists or walkways. Especially the view straight to the sunset is perfect for some minimalistic bird shots in golden light.
Photography Tips
Use a high shutter. If necessary, push your ISO a bit higher than normal.
1. picture: Wide angle lens. Gives you an overview of the huge colony.
2. picture: Tele-zoom lens. Gives you a good focus on a single bird in good light.
