New Zealand Motatapu Track
The Motatapu track is around 52km long, which connects the towns of Wanaka and Arrowtown. It is a quiet area and perfect for hiking lovers. On your way are coming three huts, where you can sleep in.
Photography Tips
Here sunset is your better option, but both is not the best at this side. The sun is disappearing from the left side quite early so use the shadow and light play in front of the hut, before it is just in shadow. I like the pampas gras on the backside of the hut. It gives the image a touch and is still in glow, when the gras is in the shadow.
Travel Information
Park your car at the Motatapu River Track. You need to decide if you want to hike in and out for some sections like I did or if you want to complete the hike for one way and take a taxi back to the car.
You don“t need to reserve the huts. All bookings are first-come first-served. There is no reservation possibility. So please take your tent and sleeping gear with you, if you definitely want to stay up in the mountains and to be safe in case the hut is full.
In total there are harder and easier sections. You definitely should have some hiking experience for that one.
