New Zealand Highest peak near Jack Hall´s Saddle, Motatapu Track

The Motatapu track is around 52km long, which connects the towns of Wanaka and Arrowtown. It is a quiet area and perfect for hiking lovers. On your way are coming three huts, where you can sleep in.

The peak next to the Fern Burn Hut offers amazing views to Glendhu Bay and the area around.

I used a 24-70mm lens. Here it is perfect and better than a wide angle. Otherwise the lake would be to fare away in your picture.

Here is not really a track to the peak. From the saddle you have some very bad tracks that you can use. You need to be very advanced for finding them.

Park your car at the Motatapu River Track. You need to decide if you want to hike in and out for some sections like I did or if you want to complete the hike for one way and take a taxi back to the car.

You don´t need to reserve the huts. All bookings are first-come first-served. There is no reservation possibility. So please take your tent and sleeping gear with you, if you definitely want to stay up in the mountains and to be safe in case the hut is full.

In total there are harder and easier sections. You definitely should have some hiking experience for that one.
