New Zealand Whakaari/White Island off Opotiki

The East Cape of the New Zealand North Island is an out of the way place where most tourists to NZ miss out. It's a rugged place and the coastal road is often closed due to slips, but if you can manage it the landscape is stunning.

If you have time take an adventure inland, the valleys and forest views are well worth the effort.

From Auckland HW1 South, then HW2 and on to HW35.
