Split Apple Rock (Tokangawhā) is a striking natural granite boulder split cleanly in two, sitting just off the coast in Abel Tasman National Park. According to Māori tradition, the split was caused by two gods pulling the rock apart after a dispute.

Photography Tips

When the nearby river has a fairly high water level, you can take super nice shots with the smaller layers of water formed on the beach. This will create super individual images!!

Travel Information

The split "apple rock" is just really visible when standing further south on the beach. Ones you reach the beach, the rock is a pure rock! Just as expectations management. If you want to catch sunrise here, its highly important to check the times when it actually hits more south.
