New Zealand Limestone Walk Kepler Track
The Limestone Walk is a scenic section of the Kepler Track where the trail winds through ancient beech forest beneath impressive limestone cliffs and rock formations. Shaped over millions of years, the limestone landscape adds a unique geological highlight to the hike and provides a striking contrast to Fiordland's lush rainforest.
Photography Tips
Take some grasses unsharp into the foreground to hide sections which are not much of interest.
Travel Information
The limestone section is located on the final stretch of the Kepler Track between Moturau Hut and Rainbow Reach, making it accessible both to multi-day hikers and visitors tackling shorter day walks. Rainbow Reach is about a 20-minute drive from Te Anau, with parking available at the trailhead.
