New Zealand Copland River
The Copland River is the scenic heart of the Copland Track, flowing through a spectacular glacial valley surrounded by dense temperate rainforest and towering peaks in Westland Tai Poutini National Park. Its striking turquoise waters, braided riverbed, and dramatic mountain backdrop create one of New Zealand's most beautiful river landscapes on the journey to Welcome Flat Hot Pools.
Photography Tips
Watch out for any opening and direction and get in a position so that the sun can create flares, just itching the trees.
Travel Information
The Copland River is best experienced by hiking the Copland Track, which begins 26 km south of Fox Glacier on State Highway 6. The river accompanies much of the 18 km trail to Welcome Flat Hut, with numerous riverbank sections, swing bridges, and mountain viewpoints along the way.
