New Zealand Highway 6, Lake Hawea
State Highway 6 along Lake Hāwea is one of New Zealand's most scenic drives, following the crystal-clear turquoise waters of the lake beneath the rugged peaks of the Southern Alps. With sweeping lakeside vistas, wide-open landscapes, and ever-changing mountain scenery, it is a favourite route for road trippers and photographers.

Travel Information
This scenic stretch lies between Wānaka and the Haast Pass, with numerous roadside pull-offs offering spectacular viewpoints and photo opportunities. The drive from Wānaka to the northern end of Lake Hāwea takes around 30–40 minutes.
