The hike up to Sefton Bivvy is hard but very rewarding, offering views which are not as common as from other viewpoints in the area. Take some breaks and enjoy while hiking up. Above the scree you will have some good chance for more exposed vantage points.

Place a person on one of the rocks and get yourself in a position from which the person is silhouetting the lake with a bright and shadowed contrast.

Travel Information

The hike to Sefton Bivouac is a demanding alpine adventure, climbing steeply above the Mueller Glacier to one of New Zealand's most spectacular mountain viewpoints. The route traverses rugged scree slopes and exposed alpine terrain. Especially that section from where the photo is taken is quite demanding.
