abal Shams is the highest region and the highest mountain at Oman. The nickname is Grand Canyon of Oman because at first it looks like the Canyon in the US. The mountain is approximately 3028 m high and there you have a marvelous view. All efforts to drive there are worth it.

Travel Information

You have to rent a car - so you have the option to enjoy the location so long as you want. If you book a tour there is many traffic. You should be there before 12.00 - then you are alone there. 2-3 hours later and 30 4WDs and more are there. If you use a 2WD-car be careful: the last 8 km a really offroad - but you can handle it if you pay attention.
