The surviving cloisters of the historic San Agustín Convent in Zaña, Chiclayo Province, in northern Peru’s Lambayeque Region. Founded by the Augustinian order in 1584, the complex once occupied an entire city block and included two courtyards and an adjoining church. Severe flooding devastated Zaña in 1720 and badly damaged the convent, but substantial sections of its monumental brickwork and arcades remain standing. This viewpoint is located inside the convent grounds.

Travel Information

The convent is situated near the centre of Zaña, approximately two blocks from the main square. From Chiclayo, Zaña can be reached by a local colectivo or combi in roughly one hour.

Be mindful of visiting times. The convent does not open on Mondays.
