Both the villages of Foz d'Égua and Chãs d'Égua are characterized by their rural mountain appearance, with typical schist and slate houses, surrounded by picturesque nature, almost in its pure state, rich in species of fauna and flora that here find their natural habitat.
The Piódão stream and the Chãs stream flow towards the Alvoco river, the route of which is blocked by a dam creating a water mirror.
