The Vila Franca Islet is located on the island of São Miguel, in the municipality of Vila Franca do Campo, on the south coast of the island of São Miguel, in the Azores.

It is a small volcanic islet, approximately 500 metres from the coast of Vila Franca, and 1200 metres from the Tagarete pier, in the centre of the town.

Photography Tips

This location offers several excellent dives for divers of all levels of experience, and is also a great place for snorkeling. Inside the islet there is a large bay (the crater of an extinct volcano that formed over four thousand years ago), where you can also snorkel.

Travel Information

To get to Ilhéu de Vila Franca you need to go to the small town of Vila Franca do Campo, approximately 25 minutes by car from Ponta Delgada.
