Portugal Praia do Monte Verde
It is a sea beach located in the municipality of Ribeira Grande, in the parish of Matriz, with a vast stretch of sand that offers moments of relaxation, serenity, and adventure for lovers of water sports. It is well-known for its waves, ideal for surfing and bodyboarding.
Monte Verde Beach is one of the beaches with the greatest potential, much sought after by swimmers and the site of one of the largest music festivals – the Monte Verde Festival – which annually attracts around twenty thousand festival-goers.
It has parking and hosted a WQS surfing event in 2009. It is also popular with windsurfers and kitesurfers, as its north-facing location offers excellent conditions for a wide variety of water sports.
During the swimming season – between June and September each year – its facilities are enhanced with the installation of two beach modules with restrooms, changing rooms, and showers.
