Al Zubara Fort is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, you can get a feeling for the old life on the Gulf.

The fort itself is as far as I know not open during sunrise/sunset hours, but you could shoot the exterior at these times.
Travel Information
Parking is available easily. Can recommend hiring a tour guide in Doha as they often are dressing in the traditional clothing and are happy to be included in your photos.
