At Cernavodă, one of the two (meanwhile perhaps three) Romanian bridges crosses the Danube. The Danube-Black Sea Canal (Canalul Dunăre-Marea Neagră) begins or ends here, respectively. A control centre in a tower monitors the shipping traffic. The building next to the tower is abandoned and decaying, similar to the jetty in front of it.
