One of the greatest areas for photography in St Petersburg are river embankments. This river is called Moyka. What I love about it is that it provides lots of oportunities in terms of compositions!

It's an amazing idea to have a wide-angle lens with you if you plan on traveling to St Petersburg!
I find that having an interesting scene photographed on a wide angle gives much more dynamic result.
The next thing that is SUPER important is the light.
The area around Moyka is full of charachter and atmosphere at sunset or later when the sun goes behind the horizon so this shot is taken during blue hour.

Travel Information
This photo is taken from a bridge that is called Zeleniy Most (eng. "Green Bridge"). It's the very center of the city so the best way to get here is by metro.
The nearest station is Nevsky Prospect - then it's just an enjoyable 5 min walk (realistically more, as there are lots of great places to get delicious food around and also street perfomances ;)
