Russian Federation Yankich Island (Ushishir)
Yankich Island is the most remote of the entire group of islands of the northern Kuril ridge, about a thousand kilometers from the nearest settlement. It is a small uninhabited island of volcanic origin with a diameter of only about 3 km. You can get here only by sea, after several days of sailing. The weather is unstable with periodic strong winds and waves.
