Russian Federation Krenitsyn Volcano
Onekotan is one of the islands of the northern group of the Great Kuril Ridge. It is located closer to Kamchatka about 180 km. Onekotan is famous for its spectacular mountain structure, the Krenitsyn volcano - a volcano within a volcano and an island within an island at the same time. The slender green cone of the Krenitsyn volcano rises almost in the center of the blue lake, which, in turn, occupies the rounded caldera of an older, destroyed volcano.
