Singapore Parkview Square (aka. the Gotham Building)

  • Please log in or sign up for free to see the GPS coordinates & weather for this photo spot
This building is a 200 meter-tall gargoyle-encrusted fantasia that catered to the whims of the Taiwanese tycoon who financed its construction. The locally used nickname is the Gotham Building because of its resemblance to architecture of the fictional city of Batman fame. The giant foyer is covered with Art Deco murals and features a unique bar with a two-storey gin tower. The building itself houses offices and a number of smaller embassies in Singapore.

Photography Tips

At the available angles, a super wide angle lens (fisheye) is required to capture the entirety of the building from ground level in the courtyard. For this image an 8-15mm fisheye lens was used at 10mm with lens distortion correction applied in post to compensate for the extreme barrelling effect of the lens.
It is also worth looking at the other side of the building - the setting and photo potential is very different.
