Slovakia (Slovak Republic) Belianske Tatry, Zakopane, Poland.
Located in Zakopane. The spot is called Belianske Tatry which is where the photo was taken from illustrating Gerlachovsky stit. It’s quite a trek to get there so, don’t undertake it if you’re afraid of heights, or unsteady on your feet.
Photography Tips
Don’t go on a heavily cloudy day. It’s pointless. You’ll not be able to see any terrain.
Try for summer with broken textured cloud. Day time shots are difficult. The sun and haze can make shooting during the morning and middays difficult therefore opt for a low light setting.
Take NDs, spare batteries, tripod, good zoom lens etc. While photos like this are ok, I also shot some story telling imagery.
For example closeup shots of lone tourists walking up the peaks. Smoke coming out of nearby chimneys.
I’ve also some photos of tourists in sky lifts emerging through thick cloud.
Don’t underestimate these mountains. The weather is unpredictable and many paths are dangerous.
