South Africa Lion’s Head, Cape Town
Lion’s Head is one of Cape Town’s most popular hikes, offering incredible 360° views of the city, Table Mountain, the Twelve Apostles, and the Atlantic Ocean. From the summit, you can capture the contrast between rugged peaks and the urban coastline below. A perfect spot for sunrise or sunset adventures.
Photography Tips
Fly your drone during golden hour to capture soft light over the mountain ridges and coastline. A wide-angle top-down or low-angled orbit shot works well to highlight Lion’s Head’s spiral trail and dramatic surroundings. Avoid high wind days and respect drone flight restrictions over the city and Table Mountain National Park.
Travel Information
The trailhead starts at Signal Hill Road, with parking available nearby. It’s a moderate hike taking around 1.5 to 2 hours round trip. Best done at sunrise for fewer crowds and amazing lighting. Drone use is restricted in parts of Table Mountain National Park—check current rules or fly from areas outside the no-fly zones.
