South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands Leith Harbour, South Georgia
Leith Harbour was the largest and most industrialized whaling station on South Georgia, once operated by Norwegian companies during the peak of the early 20th-century whaling era. Today, its abandoned buildings and rusting infrastructure remain as a haunting reminder of that period and are closely linked to the events leading up to the Falklands War, when Argentine forces first occupied the site.
Photography Tips
Use the rail or different other objects from the ship in your foreground to give the picture a bit more dynamic than just a shot of the abandoned whaling station.
