South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands Glacier at Gold Harbour, South Georgia
Gold Harbour is one of South Georgia’s most dramatic sites, framed by steep glaciers and dense colonies of king penguins stretching across the black sand beach. Behind them, fur seals als elephant seals roam the shoreline while towering ice cliffs and snow-covered peaks create a raw, untouched atmosphere.
Photography Tips
Use a fast shutter speed (at least 1/1000s or higher) to freeze motion and keep your images sharp despite the constant movement of the zodiac. Shoot in burst mode with continuous autofocus so you can capture multiple frames and increase your chances of getting a perfectly timed, sharp shot.
Travel Information
You only can reach South Georgia by expedition boat from Cape Town, Falkland Islands or Ushuaia Argentinia. Depending on the swell you operate with a zodiac drive or a beach landing.
