L'Hemisfèric (span. El Hemisférico) is the cultural building, planetarium and cinema in the City of Ciudad de las Artes y de las Ciencias in Valencia, Spanien. The building was designed by Santiago Calatrava and opened on 16 April 1998 as the first building of the City of Arts and Sciences in dried-out riverbed of the Turia. The architect designed the building as a colossal human eye - the eye of wisdom, which is intended to symbolize the audiovisual experience of visitors when viewing the demonstrations.
