That is an interesting spot. The reason, you can use the arch (even simulate a cave) framing El Teide, which is the mountain, actually vulcano, most higher in Spain.

Due to the altitude, you will be most part of the year above the clouds.

You can take a rest, enjoy the views and then continue with your visit. Maybe you want to shoot milky way. From that spot, facing a little bit to the left, you can do it.

Travel Information

To get there, you will need to follow the road (TF24) from "Mirador La Tarta del Teide" about 1.5 Km. You will find to your left a spot to park your car, and crossing the road, a path. You have to take that path and walk 800-900 m. Just trying to get the "Mirador La Tarta del Teide".

There are no complications, just follow the path.

Things you would need:

- Water. Always at high altitudes bring water. Although it is not the Himalayas, the atmosphere here is pretty dry.
- Sunglasses. UV radiation used to be high.
- Food for taking a rest when you reach the spot. Please, be polite with nature.
- If you are traveling in summer, or just during the day, you'll not need extra layers, but If you are here in winter, please, bring with you clothes. Sometimes it is very cold.
- Appropriate footwear. Despite it being an easy path to walk, please protect your feet and walk safely.
- Finally, take it easy, you could find you lose your breath if you are not fit.

Hello Juan Luis, What a beautiful spot! We will definately visit it next May. Thanks for the great localisation! Beside that: we love to combine photography with good food. Do you as a local have any good recommandations for good restaurants :)?
Juanlu 21.01.
Best restaurants used to be in the North of the Island. But, depends on what kind of food you want ot eat. Obviously, if you are able to eat local food, it is easier to find good restaurantes (we call them "Guanchinches"). For sea's food there are good places as well. I would not like to name restaurants but I do not know how to give you information about that in a private way. So, I can write here, and if the staff of this webpage believes it is not well done, please, erase de comment. To eat fish, I would go to this one (it is a bit expensive depending of what you order, but you receive a very good quality. Fresh foods): https://www.google.com/maps/place/Restaurante+El+Roc%C3%A1s/@28.1095538,-16.4708694,21z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0xc40213c332ee0db:0x29a9bf96cb53e0ca!8m2!3d28.1095005!4d-16.4709332 As well (expensive and good. Fresh products): https://www.google.com/maps/place/Restaurante+la+Caseta+Punta+del+Hidalgo/@28.567892,-16.3344597,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0xc41cfc5725aff4f:0x2576a2d06b2a2f91!8m2!3d28.567892!4d-16.332271 Typical food: This one is pretty cheap in my opinion. Good food in general and beautiful. https://www.google.com/maps/place/Lomo+Santo/@28.4418568,-16.4552421,19.92z/data=!3m1!5s0xc41d48f1cb27787:0xcc831debc5c2688a!4m5!3m4!1s0xc41d489f6fd48fd:0x18a30ed079fddd39!8m2!3d28.4416487!4d-16.4550109 I also like (sooooo good, hahaha. Love it) https://www.google.com/maps/place/Cuevas+Mama+Antonia/@28.3433731,-16.3902312,17z/data=!4m12!1m6!3m5!1s0xc402dca99bad4cd:0xdd14d317d1d47069!2sCuevas+Mama+Antonia!8m2!3d28.3434226!4d-16.3914323!3m4!1s0xc402dca99bad4cd:0xdd14d317d1d47069!8m2!3d28.3434226!4d-16.3914323 This one used to be full of people, better not in weekends. https://www.google.com/maps/place/Restaurante+Quinta+Crespo/@28.4974314,-16.4094233,17z/data=!3m2!4b1!5s0xc41d3d9b13c67a3:0xb85f42b6c91282f2!4m5!3m4!1s0xc41d3d9b32a87a3:0x81f2f07cbcca0f6c!8m2!3d28.4974314!4d-16.4072346 If you want to eat mushrooms and other plates....I would go to https://www.google.com/maps/place/Casa+Od%C3%B3n/@28.4836061,-16.4236705,14.71z/data=!3m1!5s0xc41d3d9b13c67a3:0xb85f42b6c91282f2!4m12!1m6!3m5!1s0xc41d3d9b32a87a3:0x81f2f07cbcca0f6c!2sRestaurante+Quinta+Crespo!8m2!3d28.4974314!4d-16.4072346!3m4!1s0xc41d3c13af2b299:0x4128270aadb6c695!8m2!3d28.4738435!4d-16.4278263 All of those places are good, inexpensive depending what you order and easy to find. I would not recommend restaurants full of tourists. Just look at the people. Always look prices, and do not hesitate to complain if your bill is not correct.

I hope we will find this spot when we are visiting Tenerife in October 21. Your description is promising, thank you very much.
Juanlu 08.09.2021
Hi Peter, You will find it for sure. It is pretty easy to reach there. Remember, from "La Tarta", just drive 1.5 km, and find a parking place. Cross the road (left) and follow the main path. Walk those 800 m (aprox) and you'll be there. Here are the coordinates of the starting point of the pathway . 28.326395764804047, -16.489465402570044
